Dear Friends,
One I -20 was parked, switched off and driver got down suddenly noticed some smoke coming from engine room. He suddenly opened the bonnet & noticed the fire at left head lamp and put off the fire using water by that time head lamp, bumper, left fender etc all ready damaged. This survey allotted to me and I went for inspection, at the time of inspection I noticed the head lamp is fitted with extra cut out and 100/90 bulb is replaced for OE fitment. So my question is this fire may due to this alteration, if yes the claim Is payable or not.
REGARDS,

Dear Freind,
Any alteration of risk (here the subject vehicle) has to be intimated to & approved by insurer because premium was charged on the basis proposed risk. By alteration , the risk gets deteriorated & commensurate premium should be charged. Here terms & condition of contract has been violated. If you are sure that extra cut has aggravated the risk, you can submit independent report with above mentioned comments & leave it to insurer to accept or reject your recommendation. It is their prerogatibe.
With best regards,

Alternation of original design of insured vehicle is violation of policy condition and hence claim is not maintainable, thus not payable.
